About us

The Phillips County Community Foundation is a 501(c)(3) Kansas Nonprofit Corporation dedicated to promoting civic pride and community cohesiveness, encouraging community projects of all types, raising and granting funds, and providing avenues for the community and individuals to financially support their interests.  The Phillips County Community Foundation also serves as a conduit organization in order to facilitate giving from private or family foundations to organizations and causes.

History

The Phillips County Community Foundation (PCCF) is a 501(c)3 public charitable non-profit foundation created to conduct charitable and educational services for residents of Phillips County. The Foundation began in 2003, as Phillips County Development and Community Foundation, Inc. It now operates as PCCF with a 10-member Board. In addition to various administering designated funds and scholarships, the Foundation owns the Fischer Building and operates the Entrepreneurial Center (E-Center).

Stephanie Austin, President

Stephanie has made Phillips County her home since 1972. She and husband Ron owned and operated a successful retail business in Phillipsburg for 42 years. Stephanie has served on other boards and been involved in many organizations through her years in Phillips County. She is now retired and enjoys spending time volunteering and traveling to see her 2 sons and families.

Amber Buresh, Vice-President

Amber Buresh, Vice-President

Amber moved to Phillipsburg in 2000 with her husband Joe upon graduating from college in Hastings, Nebraska with a degree in Science and Dental Assisting.   She has worked in a dental office for 17 years.   Having grown up in a rural community, she loves raising her two boys Brock & Blake in this wonderful town of Phillipsburg.  She is excited for the future of Phillips County.

Carla is a lifetime Phillips County resident. She is the branch manager at Golden Plains Credit Union where she has been employed for 27 years.  Carla has three adult sons. Her husband, Theron and she enjoy classic cars and the benefits of rural living.

Lester Peak, Board Member

Lester Peak, Board Member

Lester lives in Kirwin with his wife, Michelle and their 2 children, Taylor and Summer. He is employed by Prairie Horizon Agri-Energy, LLC and serves in the U.S. Army Reserves. Lester is an active volunteer with Phillips County Emergency Management System and the Kirwin Volunteer Fire Department.

Jenny Van Loenen, Board Member

Jenny is a Logan native who currently an insurance agent with Tri-County Insurance Agency. She enjoys time with family, music, K-State, and the mountains. Jenny lives in Prairie View with her husband, Beau, and their 2 children..

Kera Willer, Secretary

Kera Willer, Secretary

Kera moved to Phillipsburg with her husband Erik shortly after graduating from Ft. Hays State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Leadership and a minor in General Communications. She developed a passion for rural living and community involvement soon after, and has been an active board member for PCCF since 2012.

Tad Felts, Board Member

Tad Felts, Board Member

Tad graduated Ft. Hays State University with a degree in Business Administration and Speech. He went on to enjoy a 68 year career in radio broadcasting, the last 45 years in Phillips County. Tad is now retired and enjoys traveling to see his 2 sons and grandchildren.

Robert Rahjes, Board Member

Robert Rahjes, Board Member

Robert was born and raised in Phillips County. He and wife Denice raised three daughters on their family farm. Robert has operated his own remodeling construction business for the past 18 years. He represents the eastern area of Phillips County on the Board.

Camie Schneider, Board Member

Camie Schneider, Board Member

Camie moved to Phillipsburg in 1987, and began her career at Mineral-Right, Inc. as the Business Manager. She and husband, Randy Schneider, have 3 children--Chris, Matt and Emily. Camie enjoys time with her family, watching sports, reading, and quilting, She has served on various civic and church boards and remains active in the community. “I love the rural life and am glad I live in Phillipsburg”.

Colin Kirchhoff, Board Member

Colin Kirchhoff, Board Member

Colin is a lifelong resident of rural Phillips County. A Kansas State University graduate with an Agricultural Economics degree, Colin is a Loan Officer at Farmers National Bank. Colin and veterinarian wife, Alissa, are the parents of a daughter Louisa Darlene.

Our Staff

Morris Engle joined PCCF as Executive Director in March of 2016, after retiring from 32 years in commercial banking. In addition to his work for the Foundation, Morris serves on several civic boards in the community, and enjoys spare time with wife, Julia.
